Excellent, I was only growing them for a bit of fun this year. Maybe they will become a permanent part of my veg plot then :)

It's been ages since I last tasted one (which my Dad grew) but I do seem to recollect that the flavour was good.

Well, a few days ago I decided to bring my Canna seed indoors and turned down the heat in the propagator so that it goes down to around 10c at night. This seems to have done the trick as the Onion seedlings are standing up a lot better:blue thumb:

I'll take some photos tomorrow Freddy. They are within a 1/4 inch of touching the lights so I've got to move them down a bit.

Photos of my Kelsae. First photo shows my set-up, they are in a plastic mini-greenhouse within my 8X8 glass greenhouse. I've got a heated propagator which comes on a night to keep the frost off, and the growlights are now on from 7am till 6pm.

                  Hiya John.

Thanks for putting up a pic. Your set-up is looking very good I must say:blue thumb: What sort of temperature range is it running at? Any plans to offer any feed at some stage?

Hi Freddy, the temp during the day is 10 to 15 deg C then at night it drops down to 3 to 8 deg C. I feel that 3 deg C is probably a bit too cold and with more bad weather forecast I swapped the 20W propagater to 50W today. Time will tell if that makes much difference.

I thought I'd start feeding in a couple of weeks time, by then my compost nutrients will have been used up. Maybe I'll use a very dilute seaweed extract to begin with.

Is anyone else feeding their's yet and what with?

Due to circumstances, my onions are lagging well behind, they still need potting on!

BUT, early days yet and I know they'll come on leaps and bounds when I finally get around to potting them up and later planting them out because I have done all the prep work, beds are ready and feed is all done (did it last year), so maybe no goliaths this year but I do have some nice seedlings, so looking promising :)

Still nothing from me - got three trays sown and covered with plastic film and then sat on a warm, bright window sill, but not seen a single sprout yet.

Just as well I am only trying them just for the sake of trying.
