I have mine toms in the conservatory at the moment waiting to go in the new grow house. I was wondering do I need to acclimatise them to it by putting them in there by day and bring them in at night for a week before planting them out permanently?

I would transfer straight into the greenhouse and plant - no acclimatising. I would wait for the forecast to be favourable, i.e. no lower than 10 deg C overnight though.

Mine are in a cold frame, waiting to be planted outside.
I think everyone should try to make one even if its just a few bricks and some glass.

It allows you to increase ventilation without all the moving around.

Mine went in there the first week in May, and are now getting all day ventilation regardless of the weather.

I've potted around 100 on this afternoon, into 7cm square pots, so a tad bigger than the were in; the Marmande's seem to be doing reasonably well if a little slow - plenty of root growth; the Ailsa Craigs are desperate to be moved on, and will probably be done tomorrow.

My Maskotkas however, are decidedly pathetic - poor foliage, OK-ish roots, and just not really looking happy at all. I have moved them on into the 7cm pots and have moved them outdoors (I am wondering if they are not liking being in the greenhouse?)

My Millefleur are repotted into round pots and are now in the porch settling into them - - hopefully they start to put a bit of a spurt on too, as they are small (although thankfully healthy looking)

Mine are starting to flower, a right bunch of bruisers, I get paid next week, buy some more compost and plant them on, ALL 23 of them!

23 Giants, about another 20 or so will need TLC 'cos they're to be eaten!

My toms are very slow this year too, in fact all my plants are that I've grown from seed. Last year it was to much rain, this year it's lack of heat. It's getting to the point whether I should bother planting up my beds or not.

Gawd knows! I have been trying to sell a few - not shifted many; some others are earmarked for neighbours and family, but that will still leave tons.

Worst case, I will have to keep more than I originally intended and then give any fruits I can't use to neighbours/friends/works canteen.

I have acquired six pretty huge pots (approx double the capacity of the 'Morrisons' flower pots that I used last year), and I am tempted to stick two plants in each -- not sure whether that should be two Ailsa Craigs which will all be outdoors, or Marmandes which will be greenhouse crops

I've decided that I am going to speak to my daughters school next week - they often have wee sale days where they sell donations to fund the school, so I am wondering if some tomatoes would be of interest to them.

Nice idea. I wonder if the school might put a Postcard on a Parent's Noticeboard, or something in a newsletter? Parents could then get in touch with you direct (I'm just thinking that if the plants are at school waiting for prospective buyers they might get abandoned, or be a burden to someone to try to look after ...).

A miserable 14'c in the greenhouse at lunchtime today (it was over 45'c at the weekend) - been out to give the toms some moral support & noticed that alicante has done something odd:

It appears to have grown a double flower truss with a strange axial side shoot, from two leaves each with its own axial growth. Not sure what to take out & what to leave there - so Im going to leave it alone & see where it looks like it wants to grow !

that was the main stem - its been growing pretty normally up until now:
-- but its just grown that double flower spike like the star on the top of a Christmas tree with no obvious stem from there up. It does have some fruit setting further down, maybe its just decided that thats it !
