Maybe that's it's growth habit then Freddy. It's a bit early to start restricting them, if the fruit look to be developing OK I wouldn't worry too much.

My Rosada are still looking very weak straggly things compared to all the other varieties, but the trusses look OK and I'm getting fruit forming.

Just eaten my first home grown tomato of the season (Sungold), boy it was nice. I only had one and then ate a few supermarket toms (not cheap ones but little plum types on the vine), there really is no comparison

The wee one came running in from the back garden yesterday "Daddy, one of your tomatoes has got a red rash!" :snork:

Bless her, its just one of the first ones ripening.

To be honest, I am glad that she didn't spot some of the other maskotkas - the fruits that are forming currently have a slightly pointed end, shaped as can only be described as a nipple; explain that one away to a nine year old..... :snork:

Oh the joys of being a parent! I would start thinking about a reply FC, the question's bound to come up sooner or later. Or.......mum knows the answer to that one. :heehee:

I was thinking of telling her that they are special ones to give the fairies somewhere to hang their bras at night, but thought better of it - I can just imagine the conversation at the school parents evening next week "Mr FC, your daughter seems to think that you have some sort of lingerie area for fairies in your back garden?"

Yes, and I can just imagine what they'd be thinking about you as well. :heehee: You have to be so careful what you say to youngsters as it quite often comes back to haunt you. Many a scrape I had with my three when they were young and wanted the ground to open up and swallow me.

All mine are growing like mad right now, I've started training them up towards the apex of the greenhouse roof. My Black Cherry looks the best with far more flowers than I've ever seen before.

Most of mine don't really seem to be interested in going higher this year - they are more interested in spreading themselves width wise. I've got a fair few fruit in the making though, so if they all go red I will be laughing.

JWK - this pic shows a bit better the green tops to my Marmandes

                      IMAG0379.jpg

Interestingly enough, the big fella side on at the bottom of this plant is the most ripe, and is losing the dark green tinge at the top.

Some of the trusses are also looking like they might be heavy fruiters - the below is on one of my outdoor Ailsa Craig; like all the rest of mine, they are not the tallest I have ever seen, but they seem to be happy and more interested in whacking out trusses than anything else.

Here are some of my 'fairy bra holders' :snork:

And the ones that have the 'red rash' - nearly there!
