:whispers: Who is Moyra calling a quiet tart?

Got a decent wee haul from the garden tonight - all chopped up and put into FC's special savoury tuna, and popped in a freshly baked baguette with some home grown lettuce; happy days :)

Nah, there are no beans in it Freddy :snork:

Dead easy, but really tasty - all quantities variable, to be made to your own liking.

To go with the amount of tomatoes above:

2 x tins tuna, drained and flaked
              tomatoes, de-seeded and chopped
spring onion or red onion or any onion really - finely chopped (I used five spring onions)
cheddar cheese, grated - a good 'dod' as they say in Scotland
              Salad cream to bind

Mix in a big bowl, and then add to sandwich/roll/baguette as you see fit. Also really nice put in a panini and heated in a sandwich press.

Cheese and Tuna, not something I would have thought went together?

Try it - trust me, it works. I must confess that I got the recipe when I did a wee stint in catering, and they were always one of the most popular sarnies going. You can omit the cheese if you wish, and you'll still have a tasty sandwich filling.

Also, don't bother paying through the nose for tuna - this £6.99 for four tins of John West is nonsense; Asda Smartprice or Sainsbury's Basics at about 70p a tin is just the job. Sainsbury's even do home bake baguettes that are really nice - Basics, 45p for two 12-inch baguettes.

This dry sunny weather is bring all my plants on now like crazy, about half my varieties are ripening now. What a difference from the last couple of years, we were all worried why nothing had turned red.

I've been getting Toms for about 3 weeks - but I sowed before most of you. One is slow, forgotten which one! but I think its the one you told me was slow JWK (and that perhaps we might consider sowing earlier to give it more "growing time" next year)

Or what about over wintering some armpit-cuttings?

I've never tried it, worry is over-wintering pests and diseases. I tried over-wintering chilli plants once and didn't get much early advantage, maybe with a bit of space and light and TLC it might be be worth trying.

Is it Golden Sunrise? That's slowest looking one for me this year.

                      Hiya chums:)

I picked the first of my Cuore Di Bue yesterday. It's a different shape to the rest on the plant, but as I recall, it was a mega-bloom. Sorry for the slightly fuzzy pic....
