    Thanks Scrungee,
I'll let it carry on reddening then and see what it tastes like,

Well - I think I over did it a bit with the 8 tomatos + a dozen or so chilli plants in the greenhouse - predictably I think I need a bigger one...

on the Tomato front, I think that the best producer is going to be Tamina - bit of a thug of a plant but produces lots of tasty fruit. Biggest dissapointment has been the Burpee Beefstake toms which have grown well but havent really set any fruit - possibly they just need a longer growing season than we can get in the uk as they do seem to be getting going now.

Ive also got some red cherry toms to add to the list by the front door - a freebe from one of the magazines - lots of small very tasty toms, will grow again.

I do have a mystery plant that I grew from seed that my brother saved whilst on holiday in Italy last year - he said it was an eater, its grown into a big bushy plant covered in fat Roma -like fruit:

      No - goldening!

If you save seeds from F1 Sungolds, some will produce (F2) red toms, but they will still be pretty sweet and suitable to go in the mix to make lovely roasted sweet cherry tomato sauce.

Great pictures Jenny, Nick and Mowgley!

Jenny...... that is a bit of an ugly brute you've got there, do you think it will be edible?

Nick.......I'm growing Tamina for the first time this year and they are just starting to ripen. Big toms on big plants so I've had to give them some extra support. :)

My Marmandes seem to have the ripening bit between their teeth now - got a couple all but ready, and loads to follow. I am almost over-run with Maskotkas, but a good friend of mine has done me a huge favour in arranging an MOT for my car on Thursday, so they will be part of his thank you goodie box

I should have know that ;) It's looking good, is the plant any stronger (thicker stems/taller) than your others?

It certainly is John....it turned out a 'split stem' plant and got too big for the GH so with the weather being so good moved it (with difficulty) outside.....i've stopped it at 4 trusses each side both of which are just over 6ft....i'd love to have seen just how big it would have got....one big mistake...should have been in a bigger container as it dries out as you look at it.....but it's a healthy looking plant:dbgrtmb:

My Arnold F1 X BM is a good big healthy plant too:dbgrtmb:

Isn't it all starting to get exciting ?
Now that they are coming to the ripening stage. Could do with some more gentle, windless rain though...

My grafted plants overtook their non-Frankenstein cousins a couple of weeks ago in terms of size, I've got Delicious, Gardener's Delight and Amish Paste growing in pretty poor old soil in the greenhouse on Arnold rootstock. All three are massive now with very thick stems, however they haven't yet produced any ripe fruit, they just want to bust out of the greenhouse instead :)
