    Here's some of my beauties:

Yellow one is Valencia - lovely sweet flavor, middle ones are Moneymakers, which I absolutely loooove, and beef variety is Omar Lebanese, nice and sweet too.

Thanks JWK, yes it's pretty good dropper I think, there's lots of them and they were first to mature, but they all have 'cores' inside, and I think im going to try a different beef toms next year.

So FC, you now have just a little tomato growing experience :heehee: are you going to grow as many next year? :)

Almost certainly - I am beyond help Sheal :heehee:

I am already planning on doing Maskotka, Marmande, Millefleur, Purple Ukraine, Bulgarian Giant and Rose De Berne.

I won't be bothering with onions next year, but will do additional radishes, lettuce and spring onions, and I'll also need to try and make sure that I have more meat in the freezer (minced beef, diced beef etc) so that I can cook up meals with the tomatoes that will see us into/through the winter; courgettes will be outside only and a different variety, cucumbers will be F1 to save hassle, and I am thinking of giving aubergines a whirl.

Besides giving stuff to neighbours and friends, I can always donate to the canteen at work which means that the people I work with get a tasty treat, and I usually get a few free dinners out of it too. I think I'd rather have too much than too little, in case of failures or disasters like last year.

Some of my bigguns are starting to ripen but NOT my giant "Big Zak" that I have high hopes for:ThankYou:, another couple of weeks "swelling" will suit me fine.

Gardener's Delight have started producing ripe fruit, best year ever for flavour, Harbinger not far behind, a few ripe fruit on the lower trusses and tasting great (blight wiped them out last year, so my first "taste" year).

I've been reading this thread with great interest and am amazed by how many varieties are growing. As for me I've only grown 3 varieties:

Ailsa craig - reliable and good flavour, quite juicy (would prefer it a bit less so)
                  IMG_1503a.jpg

Cuor di bue - Large pink fruit, lots of them about 10 ounces each, very sweet and fleshy with not much liquid, which makes them very good for sandwich.
                  IMG_1504b.jpg

Golden nugget - Very well balanced in its flavour, sweet with a touch of acidity. Heavy cropper, so far this one plant has produced 7lb of fruit.
                  IMG_1506a.jpg

Does any one have suggestions for a good blight resistant tomato for growing outdoors?
Here in Bristol I can get blight even in the greenhouse via vents or leaks around window frames. Any tomatoes growing outside are effected by blight before they have chance to ripen.

I am growing Maskotkas outdoors in a window box facing SSW and have been gathering toms for 3 weeks or more. No sign of blight so far,

For an outdoor plant I'm trying Ferline, it's got some resistance to Blight. Last year Ferline produced some ripe fruit before the blight came. Ferline put up a good fight against blight but eventually succumbed. This year my Ferline haven't ripened yet and they look a pretty poor crop, so I'm not going to try them again.

Two years ago I grew the only other blight resistant tomato (that I know about), called Koralik, it's got grape sized fruit, sweet and tasty. That's a possibility HsuH :blue thumb:

Strange that, mine have been cropping for the last three weeks or so, and a good crop of large fruits:dunno:

The only blight resistant toms that we have found successful have been Koralik. :blue thumb: We don't grow any toms seriously now so haven't grown koralik this year.

I think I started mine too early, the lower leaves went purple with the cold spring and they never really recovered after that.

What do your Ferline taste like Freddy?

                          Hiya John.

Given that I'm coming to the conclusion that my Tomatoes aren't as flavoursome as I would expect (generally speaking), they're pretty good, I think. Once cut open, they look a bit dry and paste-y (if you know what I mean?), but are actually reasonably juicy. Flavour - Some sweetness, and a bit salty. I like them, and will continue to grow them.

                          Cheers...Freddy
