Thanks for the info Loli, I'll definitely give them a go next year. :)[/QUOTE]
    Hi Sheal

I grew Ailsa Craig for years , its a good sized tomato cracker flavor and easy to grow as a cordon

Sown on 16th Feb, varieties: Black Cherry, Black Krim, Floridity, Gardeners Delight, Golden Sunrise, Ildi, Rosella and Sungold F1. I've grown most of these before, Ildi & Rosella are new for me.

I started them early as I'm having another go at grafting onto Potatoes. Hope to get the graft technique better honed this year. I'll update the TomTato thread when I get time :)

My mum grew Ildi for years and found them sweet and very more-ish. :)

I grew them for two years, and am still undecided about them. They did though make a nice addition to a mixed tomato roast with herbs and garlic :)

I've had a bit of a disaster. Potted on a whole load of strong tomato seedlings into Aldi's Organic compost. The compost is dodgy as a fungal mycelium is now growing over the surface of most pots and the tomatoes in them are dying. Beware of this compost.

How terrible, I really feel for you as you had so many on the go. Will certainly steer clear of this Aldi stuff from now on.

I've used Bayer Garden Fruit & Vegetable Disease Control spray in previous years to combat damping off, it may help you save your remaining plants:

That is so disappointing Cinnamon,it's still early days so you can start again but it is a bit soul destroying to get this far and that happens:gaah:

I have been given some seed of Tomato Cherry Belle F1 (Came with a gardening mag) - anyone tried this variety is it worth growing?
I only grow outdoor varieties and only space six or so in total, usually G. Delight, Alicante, Marmande and Maskotka all in large pots or growbags with ring collars.

I've not heard of it Alex, but you have a bargain there, it's £5.99 a packet from Suttons!

                      http://www.suttons.co.uk/Gardening/...ts/Tomato+Plants+-+F1+Cherry+Belle_229921.htm

I know you can't trust the sales blurb but they do build it up, must be worth a try if you can afford the space?

Thanks for the advice JWK....and the sympathy from Fern and Lolimac. Gaaah indeed, but I'll buy them chemical and yes, could still re-sow.

                            Hiya John :blue thumb:

That page you posted was for just 3 plug plants. I seem to recall they are saying that it's blight proof? I did a quick scan at the time and couldn't see any seed for sale.
