Don't worry GG, this thread is about all ways of growing tomatoes. I don't see any issue with buying plants - I've do that some years too, there seems to be a much better choice of varieties these days. If you are only growing a few it's probably cheaper buying in when you consider the cost of seed/compost and time involved in raising your own.

Not sure what those bugs are, they are probably attracted to the compost rather than the plants so I wouldn't worry unless you find chunks missing from the tomatoes.

As others have said you don't need full sun all day. Mine gets 50% shading from neighbour's trees. I also grow runner beans close by on the South Side to give some shade, even then in the height of summer I'll have to put up bamboo blinds on the roof otherwise temperatures soar.

How's your greenhouse ventilation Cinnamon? Just wondering if you can get a decent airflow it will help keep greenfly down, or maybe use a fan if you have electrics installed.

To be honest it's not well ventilated. I've installed an automatic vent but because I'm probably putting the house on the market later this year, I've not invested more in the greenhouse.

Is it normal that the leaves curve down like this? I fear it is having some problem

So long as that's not wilting it's OK. Some varieties do have downwards pointing leaves.

            What variety is it?

If it's an interminate=vine=cordon variety then you should probably restrict it to just the top shoot and pinch out those side shoots, but check which type of variety it is first (the determinate=bush types give you a higher yield with sideshoots, but that one doesn't look like it is).

Thanks Cinnamon. It is a Sungold. I will remove the sideshoots when they are a little larger, so that I can get hold of them. I have fat fingers :D

They can do this at this time of year, it's a sign they are growing strongly and nothing to worry about. Mine are doing the same:

Still far too cold here to plant outdoor tomatoes, it went down to 4.1 deg C at 04:20 BST this morning. Tuesday next week looks like the earliest they might start going out.

Please help! My tomato leaves are like this. I found it just now. Is it disease? What do I need to do?

Possibly a magnesium deficiency - have you been feeding them, and if so what with?

I only fed them once. About a week or so ago, with general purpose liquid feed and seaweed liquid.

Might be worth trying some Epsom Salts then, but you need more advice from someone with more experience than I have - I will tag @Lolimac and @JWK to see if they can help.

One thing I do know is that tomatoes are greedy feeders and need a lot of nutrients
