My outdoor toms and I some of my PFAs appear to have a touch of early blight, but not as virulent as it was earlier in the year.

DSCF0168.JPG This is my first picking of 'Angelo's Bulgarian' it
      weighed 550 grams.
Take no notice of the seeds, they are from 'Aurora' which were sitting on the dish,
      ready for packing.

Did you mean 'Angelina's Bulgarian'? Or was it from Angelina's seed grown by Jenny who called her plant/tomato 'Angelo', so both would be the same variety (which I'm also growing) and is produclng some cracking tomatoes, I've got trusses of up to 5 toms each over 1lb.

@Cinnamon I found another (more typical) Purple Calabash I picked yesterday but had left in the car

P.S. Anybody not got Blight yet? Your chance to get it cheap - B&Q are selling off blighted tomato plants for only £4, reduced from £8!

Haven't had much luck with my first ever outdoor gardening with tomatoes :( its very sad as they're all either the size of a grape apart from two or three and completely green. is it to late now to ripen them?

I'm going to be a pendant....only some ripe fruit will help unripe tomatoes to ripen. These are called 'climacteric' fruit and give off ethylene (ethene) gas which encourages others to ripen.

Non-climacteric fruit such as citrus and berries do not ripen off the plant and do not get excited and start pumping out ethene, so won't ripen your tomatoes.

Stick them in a shoe box, drawer or some enclosed space along with a banana indoors. Being enclosed concentrates the ethylene and hastens ripening.

I now have a tidy kitchen....put all the unripe tomatoes from plants I've culled in the bay window rather than all over my kitchen and made over 2 litres of gazpacho soup with most of the ripe ones....perhaps had too much of it this evening. Spilled it everywhere but tomato juice seems to be a good worksurface cleaner so my counters are now shiney! Job well done!

Picked a 1lb 10 ozs/736 grams tomato today, but this lobed one (with lots of gaps) is 15.5" girth and I have a solid oval one now 17.5" girth that I'm hoping will make 2lbs.
