I did have @Loofah , but sods law it fell of the ledge yesterday & beheaded one of my newly transferred tomato plants:doh:
But, i just potted up the severed bit & hopefully it will take :blue thumb:

I ended up transferring them all to the greenhouse yesterday. Ive got a fleece ready & will keep an eye on the temps:smile:

28?!?! :love30: I've got 4 on the go & going to try for a few more!

Weather was so bad last year that there were frosts right up to June and I couldn't plant outside until the 3rd week in June, that's why plants from my first sowings having only just been pricked out into cell trays and are only 30mm high. Some seeds have only been sown today as there's minimum of 9 weeks before planting out time for me.

If I sow anything early, it's only small amounts and to be grown in pots so they can be easily grown/moved back under cover, If I lose them nothing's lost as I will sow a full amount later on, and if the earlies survive I'll have some extra plants to give to a plant sale.

I've got most of my tomatoes in my cold and exposed greenhouse. I've planted a few hardier ones into a raised bed, but have erected a wind-screen around them as they don't like the cold wind. (Have also got a fleece+polythene 2 layered blanket I stictched to chuck over them if there's a frost risk.) Too many of mine are outgrowing 7cm pots.
My toms don't mind colder temps (I deliberately don't grow Mediterranean varieties that prob prefer hotter weather), but other stuff like aubergines can't cope.

Just transferred my baby Manduiro plants to the greenhouse - thermostat controlled heating to maintain a minimum of 11º (+/- 1º). Really slow start for us this year as we need to wait a couple of weeks to get more compost. Very frustrating.

And by this morning, approx. 4 days later, every single one of them has now germinated and are showing.

It's nothing to worry about @Tracy_x , mine always look bad at this time too, they are lacking natural light and also some nutrients as they are getting too big for the size of root. Now this is a good thing as it stresses the tomato plant and encourages it to start flowering. If we just potted them on and kept them happy they would grow into massive leafy plants with few fruit.

I took a quick photo of mine tonight, the lower leaves look the same as your one, a few have also dropped off. I'm maybe a week or two too early with mine as you can see they are getting tall and thin, they really need to go into the greenhouse but it's too cold out there just yet:

Coming to this thread a little late...

                        So far I've sown
Yellow Pear (saved seed from last year's plants, an old fashioned indeterminate plant. We grew them zig-zag up trellis work on the south-west patio, and they were probably about 10' long at the end. First picked in July, last in October, picked fruit kept indoors until February!) 100% germination rate, so I have 10 plants, looking quite even in growth. Pricked out last week.
Gardeners delight, not such a good germination, so just 8 plants - pricked out yesterday.
Tumbling Tom red - worst germination rate, just 6 plants - will be pricked out this coming week.

Still to soW, I think I have a packet of Moneymaker lurking in the seed box...

...and I'm not sure what to do with what greeted me this morning in my bowl of supermarket tomatoes! image.jpeg

Thanks very much. I thought it is a disease, so keep remove the unhealthy leaves.
Now i am not worried. My Latah already have flowers. Will upload photos later.

Looks like the seed is germinating from inside! Some people pay a lot of money to eat micro seedlings :)

In this case I'd give it a miss, I'm sure you know the vegetative parts of a tomato are poisonous but maybe not a few tiny seedlings.
