As for me, only put four plants in this year put in quite late and 2 are flowering first truss, did the usual of trimming lower leaves and planting deep, but this year two of the plants have sprouted new leaves below ground and now pushing them up through the soil. Odd.

        Do we drink the wine?

I transplanted 4 100s and 1000s into baskets a few days ago and one got stem rot :( glad I had a spare in a pot and swapped it for that earlier. Day after planting 3 looked quite yellow/wilting on the lower leaves just thought they were sulking.. the other 2 have picked up slightly but noticed their stems are quite soft too.. any suggestions please?

My golden sunrise are in a trough planter with a few marigolds and are looking lovely compared

Are these outdoors now or in a greenhouse? How deep is the basket?

Yes they're outdoors now, we've had good weather the last week, no rain and night time temps above 11c. Not sure how deep sorry but it's a 12 inch basket I'll swap them to pots if thats too small, no bother.

I have had the same disaster as @Sheal I lost all and no time to bring on from seed as of today

Then in my today's haste I made a big error, Lidl were selling four plants for £5, in my excitement at getting some plants ready to go, I did not read the labels to see they had no variety type
          One says Tomate
          One says Cherry Tomato
          and One says heurezfeuer
Consequently I have no idea if they are determate indetermate or bush

I actually wanted to try and get Maskotka

All I can think Linz is maybe they are too wet, that might explain why one got stem rot and also the "yellow/wilting". So its possible over-watering, does the compost feel soggy? If so don't water again until the surface dries out.

It is on the damp side, not soggy haven't watered them today though and ill lay off for a bit as I did mix those water retaining crystals with a bit of compost at the bottom just in case they dried out too much, would they be a problem too?

Shouldn't be a problem, I've used those crystals in the past. Can water freely drain away?

I sympathise Jack but it looks like you may be in for some surprises with the new plants. As they grow you should be able to tell what they are and whether they will need support. :)

Hi Coolsox, I wouldn't worry too much, they look like they are growing very strongly and it's not abnormal to get that curled up growth at the top. Sometimes they unfurl during the day. Most years the tops of tomatoes curl up especially when you first start feeding them. Your's look pretty good to me.
