I've left my doors and manual vent wide open this last week, had no choice as I was away on holiday. Have come back to find them gone mad, got a few more Sungold and New Girl ripened plus loads of side-shoots.

Been very dull, coolish and wet here for decades it seems, so rubbish tomato weather. Tomatoes have grown a bit, but not as much as I'd expect, all have at least one truss. The Roma is very short though looks healthy. Not got a lot of hope for this years crop unless the weather turns mediterranean pronto!

I take pics of my garden for the past few years, looking at some from 2015 my Toms are around half the size of 2015, I would say 3 weeks behind. Have others found this?? Thanks

For me 2015 was a bad tomato year. So far this year it has been much better, I've never been picking them this early before.

Coil a hosepipe up in the greenhouse full of water and don't water em till the end of the day when the water is almost too hot to touch

My greenhouse toms seem a bit behind, but plenty of time yet. The surprise for me this year (so far :fingers crossed:) is how well my outdoor toms are doing, relative to last year. Plenty of developing fruits and growing quite strongly. Milder nights compared to last year, I reckon.

I dont think there has been a week without my tomatoes complaining.
I have now kept a low-moist-level for several days and the top of the plants
                    are still curling downwards.

Could it be the fact that I have cones in the bottom as draining?
Have lost a lot of flowers during the past 2 weeks but at least it seems like
they are holding on for now. Or is it a questions of lack in nutrients? Hmm..

Curling leafs at the top of the plant are quite normal.

Not sure what you mean by 'cones'?

Are they in grobags/soil/pots - what sort of compost have you used - are the indoors/outdoors?

The flowers drop off when the fruit has set - can you see tiny fruit? If not you need to give the plant some help with pollination. Gently tap the plants, every time you feed/water/inspect - this releases pollen and helps fertilise the flowers. It's usually a problem with plants grown indoors as insects don't help and there is no wind to blow the flowers about. Also if they are too dry the fruit won't set - so if humidity is low you need to spray the flowers in the mornings too.

Ok the plants are indoors yes. So the pollination might be a cause, however its supposed to be "self pollinating", but perhaps tomatoes still require insects and wind? Cones, the stuff in some trees that the squirrels like to eat.

Should I spray the flowers either way once in a while? Dont know about the humidity but have good ventilation and I just made a hole at the bottom of one of the buckets, and it was at least moist.

Fir cones shouldn't be a problem, although in a bucket with holes I doubt they will help.

The self pollinating phrase means each flower can fertilise itself, it doesn't need a mate (another flower/plant).

But they still need help to get the pollen from the male part to the female part within the flower, it can be done with a brush but that is fiddly and time-consuming

So gently tap/shake them at least twice a day. I do mine when opening and closing the door/vents - mine are on strings so I just tap the supports half a dozen times so that the flowers on all the plants shake, that will self pollinate them. You might have to shake each set of flowers just to be sure - gentle tapping does the trick.
