We are eating lots and lots of tomatoes from the greenhouse. The fruit is so large this year I have to remove some before they ripen so that the trusses are not pulled from the plant by the weight of the fruit.
There is nothing like a tomato still warm from the plant, and I wish I could share it with you.

Found Blight in my outdoor tomatoes today :(

Pulled up one plant that had it in the stem and stripped off any leaves with signs of Blight. Then sprayed all with Bordeaux Mixture - going by past experience the Blight will still slowly spread - I just hope it doesn't get into the Greenhouse.

I've also got blight. I stripped leaves off & check every day to see how the toms are progressing.
There are so many tomatoes that I really don't want to lose them all. Hoping they will ripen a bit more before I have to pull them off.

Just a note that Bordeaux Mixture is no longer available for us home gardeners (EU Regs). I happened to see that some folk make their own from a couple of chemicals freely available - of course mixing your own fungicide is illegal (EU Regs). I bought the two chemicals (very cheap thanks ebay) for my own scientific research project and just happen to be storing it in my garden sprayer for Health and Safety reasons (EU Regs).

I removed all the tomatoes I could find that looked nearly ripe and am ripening them off on the kitchen windowsill. In the past I've found that blight spreads easily between the fruit in this situation so ruthlessly discard any that show signs. So I think it would be better to pick yours too asap Canny, then at least you will have something.

I removed all the smaller toms & those that looked like they had brown patches developing. Luckily it hasn't reached the greenhouse toms yet. Will pick as many as I can over the weekend. Would they ripen in the greenhouse ok? I have a small lean to in the garden - could pop them in there maybe..?

Thanks Linz. I had this problem last year too. It's very frustrating.

Right. In that case I haven't just sprayed my toms with BM, as you can see in the pic, and I haven't now got blue legs

Been picking some of those toms there. Tumbling Cherry and Gartenperle...

At the moment they seem a bit dry/paste-y (?), but flavour is good.

I'm sorry to hear the blight is about again. :doh:Unfortunately I lost my plants early on before they reached a foot high. I put that down to the weather conditions at the time even though they were in the greenhouse. It's the first time I've had a complete failure of plants, so no decent toms for me this year!

I've found all my toms were like that early in the season but improved as time went on. :)

Always in the early stages Freddy. They tend to stall more than once but as soon as they get some sun/heat they develop and fruit well. These are pictures of last years crop.
