Just been outside sadly cutting down all my blighted tomatoes
However, I'm pleased to note that the supposedly blight resistant Crimson Crush has survived.....so far anyway!!

Has anyone here tried the Marmande seeds from Lidl? I bought a packet to try this year but all they've produced is a very vigorous plant with few trusses of smallish tomatoes. Absolutely not what I would have expected from Marmande! Disappointed! They are taking up valuable space in the greenhouse. I have other big tomatoes like brandy wine and black krim in the greenhouse and they've grown to their expected size. All I can assume is they were wrongly labelled

I've twice tried and failed with Marmande/Super marmande. Have no problems with other varieties though!

@Scrungee I grew them last year. Very vigorous, very high yielding but personally I don't think they have much flavour. Good for a fry-up, but not much else. I'm not growing them this year.

I grew Indigo Rose last year. They were ok but didn't feel the need to grow them again. However, a volunteer indigo rose has sprung up in the garden, growing quite well and has escaped the blight that got all my other outdoor tomatoes ( except for my Crimson crush). So, if nothing else, seems resistant to blight!!

...yes, good point. Mine too were the last to come down with blight when the rest of my varieties got it.

I was surprised when I went in the greenhouse yesterday - the toms have really picked up and are going great guns! Happy days :)

So was I, but then I remembered it's the middle of August and they really should be even better than that.

It was the volume I hadn't noticed. Now they're going red I can see I'm doing MUCH better than I thought :)
