No idea what this is, but it was perched on top of an ox-eye daisy seed head in my wild flower patch this evening.

It has taken until now to see my first Gatekeeper and of all places it was in the garden this afternoon.

id help required for most of these! DSC_0026.JPG
Very pretty in a subtle sort of way (feeding on marjoram)

DSC_0054.JPG At first I thought a strange Large White, but the pointed top wing, and it was this sort of soft greeny yellow on the top-side of the wings, but didn't manage to get a shot

                      DSC_0063.JPG
Again, not a cabbage white, I don't think? (no cabbages around, anyway!)

                      DSC_0065.JPG
because of the heat today, they all seem a little reluctant to open their wings

                      DSC_0068.JPG
Is this a Gatekeeper? Lots of these on the marjoram at the moment, and I did see a mainly orange wing, when they opened
                      DSC_0082.JPG
awful photo, I know, but you can see the colour and patterning of the wing, through the blur?

                      DSC_0086.JPG
this little fellow was tiny - nearly trod on him!

                      DSC_0091.JPG
no idea about this one, apart from one of the blues?!

Just had a bit of a shock. Pulled up a big willowherb weed and felt something move in my hand.:yikes:

It turned out to be this little beauty, about two inches long.

Please excuse me if I am wrong, as I am still learning, but isn't this first one a Large Skipper, rather than a Small Skipper?
