How about 'wong'? Seriously, our village is connected to the next by 'dead wong lane' and apparently wong is a meadow. But it is much older than 19th century.
Oxford English Dictionary "Wong: obsolete, except in place-names; a plain, field; a piece of meadow land; specially a portion of unenclosed land under the open-field system; now surviving locally in the proper designations of certain fields or common lands."
