Oo, while I think about it, they don't transplant at all.

    K?

EDIT - Ah yes, I get it.... Sorry, I was in muppet mode. Of course they must be easy to grow, as I managed it accidentally! :oopss:

I started mine off in an electric propogator as I'd left it late, but that's not necessary. They can be a bit hit and miss starting so it's wise to sow more than you want. The flowers drop their petals usually within ten days, mine have only lasted three with the horrible conditions we've had this year. There are hundreds of seeds within one pod, so you probably won't need to keep them all. Clueless said he harvested his pods in September, but I'm going to take a couple off this week and see what happens.

After discussion here on GC we now know that it is legal to grow the poppies (being opium poppies) but it's obviously not legal to harvest them for the wrong purpose, if you get my meaning. ;)

Thanks Sheal - as I only have the one this year, I probably will keep all the seeds to get me going next year and then reduce how many I save from then on (notwithstanding that I may pass them on of course!)

No worries about me harvesting them for the wrong reasons - I'm a good boy, don't ya know

Ho is a common shortened version of a somewhat derogatory term that is used to describe ladies that are somewhat liberal with their intimacy ;)

This is the first year I've grown them Zigs but I don't think I'd attempt to transplant them. I've tried it with wild poppies in the past without success. I grew them from seed indoors and planted out went they were about six inches tall. :)
