    There are Robert.

I paid a late night visit to a mates house once, his mum let me in. Found him passed out from the drink oblivious to the burning litter bin in his room, he'd just thrown his cigarette into it without putting it out.

    Drunk people are scary!!
Who would you rather give the kids a lift to school the blind old bat from down the road, or a drunk. Obviously neither but if I had no choice I would have to pick the old blind women at least she mite not set fire to her car prior to crashing it.

Two weeks ago a local well known owner of a lorry company aged 65 I know him but not as a personal friend
His one thing in life was "enthusiastic" motor cycling. he was careful but "FAST"

Well two weeks ago he was on a long straight when the Ford Ka approaching just turned right across the road into a driveway, he hit it and died instantly
The 83 year old driver did not see him, infact he could not see beyond the bonnet of his KA

Off on one of me tangents again, we have a glut of 65 year old men who retire and with the lump sum buy the bike they never had when they were 18, then hare along the Scottish highland roads, EVERY week Three die :-( regular as clockwork

To Capney glad you are well and back posting

Living amongst a biking nation and family, they are called 'born again' bikers here. They just don't realise the speed and power of modern bikes.

    Yes that is it Sheal
When they were teenagers they were broke, wanted a Norton 1000cc Dominator, or an ARIEL square four, but only had a ten year old BSA BANTAM

No longer tied by work restrictions and a wad of money, they go off and buy a BMW 1000, OR Kawasaki
    Now in the 60's a 1000 cc could manage 100mph, a 1000CC Bike today does over 170mph
A bit of a jump from a young man agile and young reactions doing 45mph to 65 year old not agile and 170mph
Every week it is sad to read the paper with the widow or children saying "Dad" only got the bike eight weeks ago :-(

    Regards

Sadly in hospitals they are known as 'born again organ donors'.

You've got it spot on Jack.

Even with it around us on the island all year round, let alone T.T. and Grand Prix, it just doesn't seem to sink in with some people.
