Well, might be just my take on it, perhaps I'm missing something as well as you because to me its something most dog owners see.

If you sit down face to face with your dog and talk, the dog listens, but if it puts its head on one side then the other they are trying really hard to understand what you are saying.
Its something most dogs do when trying to understand something.

Cats aren't interested in what you have to say. You're only a servant!

This particular servant had her work cut out last night! First one baby rabbit brought in by Rosie, then, when she'd 'sorted' that one, another. Then her brother arrived with his 'prize'. No problem with leftovers, there, he scoffs everything in sight  To finish off with dessert, Rosie brought another one in :hate-shocked:. I don't know how many bunnies in an average litter, but I don't think I'll be having a problem with them in the garden this year. Now, Rosie, about this hare......:roflol:

I've noticed cats tend to ignore you unless they want attention.
Difficult to interact with unless you do it on their terms.

I could not be coping with that. Cats have owned us in three countries over the past 55 years (up to three at a time) and have never had such an issue. Here because we are in the country, there has been the odd bunny, and bird, but not by all cats. Like now, Munchkin will catch a bunny but not Van (he would prefer a chocolate covered raisin) but both catch geckos but prefer to play with them rather than eat them. Also the odd rat. Van does not seem interested in such things although we don't know his history before coming to us out of the orange grove aged about two. Then again, we don't give them raw meat as we believe it gives them the taste for it. Last year we probably had one bunny, two birds and a couple of geckos ...all saved and put in the orchard.
