        We had a technical director called Terry Christmas (his parents must have been real bar stewards) and he had joined the company at the start of December. He had gone into accounts and went up to one of the senior girls, stuck his hand out and said "Terry Christmas". Jan took his hand and said, "Merry Christmas to you too". She was black-affronted when she found out her mistake.

          I thought the "cake" was referring to barm cake. This is incorrectly named a bap or bread bun in 95% of the UK. It's only the Northwest that the correct term is used :biggrin:
          Jacks fish cake is probably right.
