Now then chaps - what about Sissinghurst and Gertrude Jekyll's all white border? Room for all colours here but I have to admit I do not have any white.......

I went there once, and I thought it was a bit dissapointing, it was a long time ago though.

Just cant understand why anybody would want to plant a whole border in one colour, when there are so many different colours and plants to chose from.
But then I never really understand garden design, its all a bit odd to me, more of an art and less in the way of gardening I think.

    Any one agree dissagree?

I love white flowers Pete. I would happily plant a white border but for two things:

    1) I would get no food or clean clothes and I hate sleeping on the couch.

    2) I can't stand shrill shrieks of 'Have you got no imagination, you idiot?'

So obviously I agree with you. ;)

    Evening folk. [IMG]

I understand garden design but don't like one colour either. To me, there must always be three colours, whichever ones you want.

I personally like orange with pink in a garden ... green is the third colour. [IMG] My favourite colours are purple and green, so I have to play around there a bit with a bit of pink/lilac and/or a different shade of green.

White is my worst nightmare here ... white against white walls. I have spent this afternoon shifting plants and shrubs, as I do. One was a Jasmine about to bloom (I have several) ... it's nice with it's pink buds but the white flowers disappear into insignificance on the walls and all the beauty is lost sadly.

At the end of the day, it's what is pleasing to your eye ... and to heck if someone else doesn't like it ... especially if you are the gardener.

John, surely you can cook and clean and wash and have a guest bed? [IMG] Shout back ... "NO!" but please be polite about it. [IMG]

What i HAVE got David is the world's slowest 8mbps connection. You click 'Add Reply' nothing happens. After 5 minutes you click again, and after another 5 minutes 2 copies appear.

I've 'requested' a MAC code. Last time I did that I had to report them to Ofcom because they ignored it. They then offered me 3 months free not to leave. I accepted. If they make the same offer I will gently decline with the expression 'Go away' or similar. Or I could stick them in the tea chest.
