I don't think i would buy any cut roses, Miss Jiff and i would both go to garden centre or where ever and buy something nice for the garden so we both can enjoy

I always ordered Mrs T roses when I was coming home on leave.
She still has a single rose pressed from the first bunch I sent her.
We have so many plants now in the garden but she still enjoys getting a bunch of red roses, (and no I don't get them from the local petral station smelling of diesal fumes).
We have a local florist near us they do great flowers

How about these roses? (sorry about the poor quality of the photo.)

This was made in 1881 - and made out of fish scales!!

The colour of roses, or indeed the choice of flower carries many meanings. Yellow roses might imply "I await your affections" . Dahlias could have many meanings, from "death to you" or other more pleasant interpretations.

Me, I totally do not go for roses. I love the smell of even a single carnation. Total bliss.

I'd prefer a plant over cut flowers anyday. In august/sept I got 4 new roses (all creamy white climbers), an agapanthus black pantha, 2 double flowered leucanthemums, 10 bargain basement daylilies, 30 small fuchsias to overwinter and a shrub rose burgundy ice. I feel spoilt after typing all that out! :oopss:
