A question for GC's male members and now you ladies too.....

So my flowers are.....

White Lilac and Lilium Lingiflorum

 

Armandii has pretty much hit the nail on the head with where I was going with this and I must say it's interesting to read your replies.......Anthony, we won't go into yours here!

What brought this about was a private discussion and we were talking about choosing roses and how they are thought of, or should be, by the person receiving them.

Single red rose......a declaration of eternal love
A dozen red roses......On going love and devotion
A dozen white roses......in more recent years have much the same meaning as above but more of a declaration of attraction.

It's interesting too that mixed colours in a bouquet of roses is not seen as the way to declare our feelings. Or do we think it looks gaudy?

Flowers, not just roses have always seemed to be given by a man to a woman, how do you gents feel about receiving flowers from the lady in your life?

 

Having read the information you gave us @ARMANDII I immediately thought of the flowers in my wedding bouquet which were chosen without considering the meaning they may have. Green Orchid's and white Freesia's.

 

I haven't got a lady in my life, but, I think for me it would be Carnations, as long as they're the proper scented ones.

Roses aside I don't think you can beat Carnations for perfume Anthony! And perhaps we'll have to start a GC matchmaking thread.

Incidentally I'm still waiting for Mr AB to purchase me some roses...

I remember when he was working away he sending me a mamouth amount of lilies which made the house smell like a cat had.... Well you know what I mean!! When he came home he asked what I'd been cleaning the house with as it absolutely stunk, his face was a picture when he realised it was the flowers.....

 

With the gardening season coming to an end @Apple Blossom we have to keep ourselves amused with other things here on GC.
