I got mine off ebay, the second camera I have had off there.
    NEW!~ PANASONIC DMC-FZ8(K) 7.2MP DIGITAL CAMERA 48XZOOM
It was the cheapest place for the same thing.
With the P&P it was £156.99.
It was delivered in 48 hrs .
The next best price I found was comet on line £199 with free P&P.
The same camera in comet is £229.
There are some buy now on Ebay for £162.98 inc P&P.
Just make sure they are New and not recon.

Some of the online sellers look cheap but the final bill with vat and P&P bring them to around about £170 - £200
At least with Ebay or a high street shop if anything did go wrong with delivery etc you have someone to get back to.

lyn thanks for the advice noticed yours is a 7.2 megapixels, my friend wanted the 10 megapixel which is going to be a lot more money and none of the shops we went to had one in, will go on the web and see iff i can find one, assuming they do one.this is what you have to watch buying on line the extra p&p and vat that they add on.

Thank you, you may regret saying that.
    Ha Ha. :D
One thing I have 3 beautiful Grand Children and take lots of photos of them.
I would like some nice close ups both colour and black and white, which setting would be the best.
    Both inside and out.

Hi Lyn You have For Exterior Portraits. Option 1. In the
Scene Mode shown as (SCN) If you select Portrait,
Its the very first box with the face in It,then press SET(the centre button on the camera)
Option 2.The next box along has a face and 2 stars in it,This is for softer skin(more natural)
to get the most effective use of these modes Rotate the Zoom lever as far as possible to Tele
and move as close to the subject as you can.Option 3.Night Portrait(use flash)This Box is directly underneath the Option 1 box shown as (face with a large star next to It).For best results only use the wide angle In this Mode. There are other options. IE. Aperture -Priority-AE which I use on occasions and Manual which I use most of the time.
Hope you can understand this and It as been of some help to you .Good luck ,your first photos were excellent. [IMG]

    Thanks for the info.
When I can get them in the mood I'll have a go.
They are 5 years old and 3 years twins.
So if they don't want to co-operate they won't.
The little girl 3 loves her photo taken but she does the same pose
As soon as she sees the camera thats it.
Head tilted to the right with a big toothy smile.
The Boy twin 3 screws his nose up when he smiles.
And the 5 year old boy thinks it's terrible to have his photo taken.
The look is, I'm fed up leave me alone.
I have never managed a good photo of all 3 together
Very difficult, who'd be a child photographer.
They are getting to an age where I can bribe them with sweets, but don't tell there Mother [IMG] :D .

Lyn I think your's and Woo's are similar to my FZ7 in which case it has an image stablizer which should be left on as it stops blur from camera shake. As I don't carry a tripod with me I find this ideal for sharp pics when there is slight movement.

If anybody's after a cheaper option (like myself) then check out your local catalogue discount store. Just got a lexmark P915 printer, and free Olympus fe-115 5MP camera for under £70. it wont be in the same league as some of those mentioned above, but for a cheap, lightweight camera it seems pretty good. The printer's not bad too

hi lyn, I find iff the weathers awful some of my pics are teribble and fir that special photos i normally wait for a nice blue sky, then i get lovely pics.
seen your photos on the seasonal comp and they have come out well, there is a lot of practice in taking photos plus the settings and getting them right.
I normally delete quite a few photos so your not alone.happy snapping
