Well, today is the day - I reckon by Sunday the cat will be out of the bag - finally - no deal confirmed.

On a lighter note, this was a comment on a news web site :

Verhofstadt's not right in the head. I heard that Freddy Kruger has nightmares about Guy Verhofstadt.

I'm a stalwart Brexiteer, clanless, but I''ll wait for midnight on 31 December 2020 before it's confirmed that we either have no deal or a deal without compromise or disadvantage. There won't, I think, be an extension as it won't be legal to do so, but they could carry on talking later , behind the scenes, about things tradewise.:dunno::cat-kittyandsmiley::coffee:

I do think we are headed for a no deal situation and that the EU will view that as being our punishment for having the temerity to leave, however I also think that only a few months will bring things into sharp focus for them as to just how much they sell to us, especially when their producers start knocking on their door

I'm beginning to think that Barnier is getting it in the neck throughout the EU states all of a sudden as the threat of an actual deal seemed possible just recently. I think that certain states just don't want the deal to happen and are now pushing new requirements through to the table. Even Barnier looks peed off about it!
UK has conceded pretty much all it will now.

The Boris and Ursula chin wag took place at 16.30 - where's the press release - is it taking time to get a form of palatable wording?

Well, we got most of it from the TV where she said that She and Boris had, after an hour long conversation, decided to restart the negotiations although the same great differences remained. If neither side give way then we're back to square one.......again.

But as already been said once the true nature of things are felt in the new year, if we end up no deal, it will consetrate minds,on both sides, to actually sort some thing out.

I wonder how much of this weekend is purely to save face and lay the groundwork for the implementation of the internal markets bill. If the UK are the first to walk away that could be viewed that they did not negotiate in good faith, and therefore if they subsequently invoked the internal markets bill that could be alleged as against international law. If the EU walk first however, that would give us the grounds to invoke the bill to protect our country, and thereby not breaking international law.

The EU can't and won't budge, particularly with Macron being such an arrogant git. I think everyone knows it is over, no deal, we are not going to be bullied and they are not in a position to lose face and back down. Checkmate. All we are waiting for is who blinks first to make the final announcement.

Let's just imagine for a moment that Manu was Prime Minister of GB and Bojo Président of France (shudder). Would Macron be an arrogant git or a strong, forceful statesman looking after his country's interests? :paladin::whistle::pillow:

I dont doubt Macron is looking after his countries interests, but the interests that he his looking after appear to be in British territorial waters.;)

Apparently, 'they' want to go from a 20km coastal perimeter to a 200km one. This quote is from a Guardian article..He and Ingram were at pains to stress that they were not looking for European boats to be excluded from UK waters, pointing out that the UK fishing fleet doesn’t have the capacity to land the entire permitted quotas. But, they say, they want the cake divided up more fairly. If the UK fleet can't use it's existing quota, doesn't it strike you as a bit dim to want 10 times the area? Even the fishermen themselves have worked it out :) A case of 'we can't use it but we're not going to let anyone else do so, even if they're our own largest market'. Humans, eh, you couldn't make it up  Glad I'm not part of the species....:roflol:
