There is a lot of screaming going on that we haven't taken back 100% of our fish straight away, but in reality we do not have the boats to allow us to do so. Five years down the line, once we have rebuilt our fishing fleets, then maybe we may take more of a quota - or maybe we will allow it to stay as is. I can see absolutely no point in depriving the EU fishermen (mostly French I believe) of a livelihood when there is no benefit to us to do so - - indeed, shutting them out when there is a trade deal in place would be churlish.

I think the fishing point is really about who sets the quotas rather than who takes them.
Big difference there, do we control out waters or does the EU set the quotas.

And I did hear that EU boats can come within 6 miles of our coastline but not sure about that.

Bang on! The only pity is the massive national debt caused by covid..
But imagine if we had another leave/remain vote now. It would be more in the region of 65/35 for leave.
I've got dear family members who voted remain but now they're on the fence :noidea:

To be honest, both figures are only small bite samples and both figures are not an accurate figure of the true picture......but does it matter?:doh:
The reality is that the UK has left the EU membership and will have to forge it's own trade, legal, immigration, domestic polices without outside interference.:dunno:

It doesn’t matter to me, it’s done. But all too often I see spurious claims like this.

I voted out, JR.!! What I was saying that there's no evidence to back up your quoted figures and that the Government poll samples are relatively small and therefore not that reliable or exact. I try not to use stats in discussions, and didn't in this case, only you and Freddy used stats to back up your views.:dunno::wallbanging::doh:

I shouldn't have put in numbers.. My 65/35 was just my own belief and I dare say an actual vote could have thrown up a surprise either way.. Now,
                        Brexit is done.

I doubt that. They'll probably just be relieved and delighted that it did work out well after all. If it does. It's called being civilised, patriotic and magnanimous

                          Clanless has a point though.
An example for instance is how many people openly say 'I voted for Tony Blair' or 'I voted for Margaret Thatcher'
Few people admit to either of these but they both achieved large majorities over many years of office.
Ok you can argue that Blair went pear shaped over the infamous Bush led war, but nobody want's to associate themselves with anyone or any issue that nose dives.
That's why, if the UK does happen to sink in despair and decline, i for one will keep my trap shut whilst in the pub (when we're allowed back into them)
However if we are going along nicely in several years time I'll be able to smugly say 'good job we voted leave'

I voted for Blair but will admit to being horrified when he took us into war illegally and furthermore I remain convinced to this day that he had a hand in the demise of Dr D Kelly. Despite all that, it was Milliband that really turned me away from Labour and whilst I maintained my union sub until a couple of years ago, I was politically homeless from there on in.

The sad truth is that most (maybe not all, but most) politicians are charlatans regardless of the party they are affiliated with. There are very few that are in it for the man in the street, with the majority in it for their own interests only.
