    Just spotted this thread Robert.
    Sorry to learn about the thug that attacked you, but glad to see that you've more or less recovered from the assault.
    We've got an A. americana which we brought home as a baby as gift from friends in Greece. It used to live in a pot on the patio and every year I'd snip the points at the ends of the main leaves. It outgrew the pot and has now been banished to a corner of the garden we seldom visit. Still a dangerous little b***er though!

    Good news is: I have survived the day using a new axe, log saw and big pruners, and have all my bits still in the right places!
    Bad news is : There are no gory photos for you guys to drawl over..........
