I think the only sign of old age, is blaming old age.

Lets break it down a bit.

        Forgetfulness
In my school days, I forgot my PE kit and my homework and anything else so often that the teacher got bored of playing war with me, and writing letters to my parents, and on one open day, my mam tells me, Mr Moore was almost in tears of frustration about my persistent lack of kit.

        Aches and Pains
When I was a kid, I had endless 'growing pains'. I was admitted to hospital several times with things like suspected appendicitis. I always had at least one pulled muscle, and went through a phase of being unable to sleep at night for rheumatism and neuralgia. Touch wood, I have no such bother now I'm older.

        Control over bodily functions
Ok, I know I've been drunk a few times in my adult life, but I don't think I've ever failed to get to the loo on time (except the time when I had food poisoning but we don't talk about that). My record breaking fart, which shook the assembly hall, happened when I was a teenager.

        Fitness and wellbeing
I'm pretty sure that I'm fitter, stronger, and have more stamina now than I did was I was 10. It doesn't always feel like that, but then when I was 10 and I could run about more than I can now, I was much lighter weight, and didn't exactly have to do much else. Now I'm older, maybe I can't run about as much for fun, but that's got to be partly because I don't go to bed at 2030, get up at 0745, and do an easy 6 hour day with regular breaks.

All that said, there is one true indicator of old age, and I'm afraid I'm now officially old. Its when Radio 2 starts playing the music of your youth. That's happened to me now.
