I think "Peel a frog" is great. I know I should come up with a suitable funny comment. but the grey matter fails me at the moment.
Nothing unusual there then ...

I would have thought that Albino animals would struggle to get by. Bad eyesight is often associated with Albinism, they seem to be doing okay though :)

Update:
All very quite in the pond at this time. which is a bit worrying.
Usually full of energy at this time.
No further show on the pale face..
I sat out today for a bit of r & r and heard one croak, so they are still around.
I think they knew this cold snap was coming...

I just posted on the wildlife thread that although I have only seen one frog very fleetingly when I moved a basket, we have 3 clumps of spawn, so they are out there - but being very coy this year!! :hehe:

Hey - Capney - we think we have an Albino Frog in our pond too!!!!!! We were pottering in the garden yesterday when a very pale frog swam across the bottom of the shelf. It stood out so clearly - it looked almost white!!! I didn't have time to run inside and grab the camera, but have now got it here ready and I will take it in the garden when I go out from now. Or have we got all excited over nothing and pale frogs are quite normal? :cnfs: :cnfs:

I have been in touch with froglife and recieved a nice reply from Lucy.
I sent pictures/video of our paleface which they may use in their database.
Here is a copy of Lucies letter for your education.

Hello Robert,

Thanks for getting in touch and thanks for the photos and video link. We do get a few reports of albino spawn every year. In many cases, like yours, it's not true albino and the white tadpoles that hatch out may well darken in colour as they grow. Unfortunately pale/albino tadpoles are a very obvious target for predators so you might find that not many of them survive anyway! Having said that, the female seems to have coped ok so far so maybe you will get some little pale coloured froglets leaving the pond in the summer. There's nothing you really need to do any differently to ordinary spawn, although, as I said, the tadpoles are quite an easy target for predators so if you wanted to remove the spawn and rear it separately it would be helpful for the tadpoles and quite interesting for you to watch!

Do we have your permission to add your photos to our image bank? We would accredit you as photographer if they were used anywhere.

Please get in touch if you have any other questions.
Best wishes,

Lucy

Our 2009 crop of tadpoles has now hatched and among them there are some white ones.
If you watch this short video you will see some shortly after hatching.
I hope to capture some more as they grow and if they survive.
