Having fought my way back through a jungle of ivy (Grrrr!) I recently lifted a rainwater drain cover for the first time in ages to see if everything was still OK. I found that the entire insides were lined with a fine network of lacy roots, about an inch or so from the bricks. And clinging on between the roots and the bricks were two small (maybe 2 inch) frogs. How did they get there? No idea. What could they have lived on? Mystery. Anyway, they were both pale yellow. From living all their lives in the dark I suppose.
