I went to plant these today, not holding out much hope as when I opened up the package, they were mouldy and very dead looking. Would this be normal or have a wasted my time planting them? Took me so long as I didn't get round to buying soil until today

I reckon it would be best to replace them with a 6 pack cell pack of much larger healthy plants for £2.99 as shown in post #3 - Aldi got them in last week (the others sound like a write off).

I had bought 12 packs of strawberry crowns, tiny dead looking things - someone had gotten them wet I think and in the plastic they rotted. I had half live and half die so bagged the dead ones in the bags which I had kept and returned them for two more bags which looked as bad. I planted those and in the end have 24 living plants. The first ones nice looking, the next ones small leaves just showing.

This is my first attempt at strawberries and really hope they work. I love making pies and will make some great things if the birds leave any for me.
