It's 'hit and miss' this time of year Dave. It is a year ago today that my Sis and her hubby and DAG and his wife arrived here for a week ... it was cold (by our standards), wet and miserable the whole week but we made the most of it. In our rainy season we can never tell how one week will be to the next ... and this week is glorious.

Not thinking of much else here in a wet UK .. quiet a lot warmer today though ..I'm also feeling a lot like my old self now so all systems go ..
Hopefully when I get back (not wishing my holiday away) I will get some seed sown ..Looking forward to more of your photos ..
I will get some of my garden on once things start to grow . I have very much a summer garden very few shrubs but lots of Fuchsias. Bananas. Brugmansias. Hostas and planted tubs .. I am having a big change around this year and incorporating a small vegetable salad area, which will be more convinient than the allotment.

It was another glorious day here so I went to see exactly what is blooming at the moment.

As you know, the Dulcis prunus (Almond tree) ... here it is on the approach to our cottage ...

... from near the house looking across the garden ...

... looking up at it ...

... another lovely blossom shot ...

The 'mixed' view from the dining area of Jacaranda mimosifolia, Euphorbia pulcherrima, Lantana camara, ...

Looking up (because it's 3 meters plus tall) the Euphorbia pulcherrima, Lonicera pericylmenum, Myoporum acuminatim and the Prunus dulcis in the background ...

    Lantana camara ...

    Euryops virgineus ...

The last of the Tecomaria capensis against the Prunus dulcis ...

    The Viburnum ...

... and I'll end with a view from the deck which also shows the Solanum rantonnetii which blooms all year ...

The Hibiscus rosa-sinensis all have buds as does the Osteopernum, the Freesias are about to bud and the Anenomes are showing themselves, as are the Cyclamen (indoor ones outdoors). Oh, also the giant roadside Geraniums.

We are making up for our barren summer months ... [/color]

Have just been out whilst the sun is out between showers and cut the Morning Glory out of the seedling almond tree (it's about 4 meters tall now) on the other side of the gate. It bloomed for the first time this year (and to be honest we did not know it was another Almond as it self-seeded) and it has a couple of fruit on it. The Morning Glory strangles everything here and can cover orange groves very quickly strangling the trees.

Anyway, took a few shots while I could ...

    Cercis siliquastrum ...

Callistemon 'Flaming Fire' ... I've not had brushes on it yet but it changes colour a couple of times a year ...

My little Prunus Pissardi Nigra which I had to cut by half last year ... I've never had the little cherry plums off it because the birds that live in the orange trees behind get to them before me ...

And the colourful Osteospermums enjoying the sunshine ...

Thanks Pete ... it's all the rain bringing out the flowers.

The pinnate leaved plant is a Cassia didymobotrya, the Popcorn plant / Peanut Butter plant ... I can't remember which way round, but the leaves smell of one and the flowers of the other.

The oranges aren't quite ripe yet. They will still be there when the next blooms and green oranges are there ... all three together, blooms, unripe fruit and ripe. They have picked all the tangerines across the lane ...they were sooooo sweet. The lemons are perpetually fruiting.
