My opuntias have never flowered, if you have one that flowers outside in the UK it sounds interesting.
But on second thoughts, it might not be hardy. :D

I agree with what walnut says that even though there is frost, it quickly thaws when the sun comes out.

We went up near Foia (the highest point in the Algarve at 902m) for lunch today and enjoyed the lovely sunshine following our recents storms. It is the one place that will get snow should we have it.

The restaurant is in the strip of buildings in the centre of the first pic ...

Still no sign of snow, pete.

We took our visitor to the beach yesterday ...

Looks like a Hottentot Hootenanny here ...

    Lovely warming pictures LOL!

Are those Hottentot thingies also called 'Tigers Claws'? My uncle lives in Majorca and has lots of those pointed succulent leaves - I wonder if it is the same plant? I think so.

I think your photos are best set off with the black frames you use. They would make excellent postcards. Ever thought of sending some examples to the Portuguese Tourist Board?

Thank for showing us [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

    Thank you so much, Cookie.

I've never heard of Hottentots being called Tiger Claws ... they do grow in the south of England ... Devon / Cornwall / Kent.

I'm fairly new to photography and am still learning. I have my artwork displayed here (see signature link below) and a few people have suggested postcards in the past. My best photos are to be seen in Non-Gardening Discussions ... Country Life ... I think walnut mentioned this to you.

You're more than welcome ... just like to bring some of my sunshine over there when things need brightening up. [IMG]

Ta for pointing me in the direction of your website LOL! I can't remember Walnut mentioning the 'Country Life' photos - I'll amble over to that thread and have a look now.

    Re your artwork site:

    I love Dead Tree Lake.

I hope you don't mind me saying, but there is a simple naivety to some of your landscapes which reminds me very much of the original artwork Tolkien did for The Hobbit. I like it very much. Mount Fuji is lovely. My fave is Red Mountain and Lake with Jetty is great.

Gosh you lot are all so talented!

Another very nice collection of pics LoL.
It'll be a while before the hottentots flower over here.
The agave flowers look like the telegraph poles

Cant help but notice some of the ships out your way seem a little old fashioned. :D

Thank you yet again, Cookie. [IMG]

And thank you, pete, that's because it gets a bit boring photographing the gin palaces. :D :D Be glad to get back into the mountains.

Hadn't actually noticed the agave flower was in line with the telegraph pole ... excellent camouflage, don't you think.

God knows what that first boat/ship is ... a tourist trap me'thinks. We think the second one is a s**t shifter literally. The lovely little catamaram sits at Kalu Bar where we sit and don't have a beer .... hrrrmmmmm!

Oh, t'other half saw his first topless of the year there yesterday ... I wasn't looking of course except at the ones who are always topless, if you know what I mean. [IMG]

Thanks Marley ... yes, you're off before me I think, I'm on the 27th but only for five days and staying in Portugal.

We went to Arma§£o de P©ra for lunch today and did a bit of bird watching ... all these photos barring the huts were taken from our table. I'm really pleased with the first two ...

Hello, my sweet diminutive long-lost friend ... perhaps the four of us could tackle it ?????

Have some of your mystery seeds up this week (second attempt) ... I sent some to pete and he thinks they are Bauhinia variegata ... so time will tell.

Catch up with you soon. [IMG]
