Sorry, Sis, I have only now caught up with this thread.

Rolf is cute and imagine him climbing over the rocks around the pond all the time!

He looks like a terrapin. Where did the people get him from? Or did he just appear?

We had a big one like that suddenly appear in our pond about 18 years ago.

Isn't he a darling, Sis? Yes, I guess he's technically a Terrapin (turtle, water loving) as opposed to a Tortoise (land-based). Must ask how old he is. He's about 15cms give or take across his back and he and Donald and Candy the white pug there belong to the new Proprietoress of the place. When we went yesterday, he followed the girls around and they just loved it.

It was Cutie, colours to die for and I've painted a few pics of similar .... we watched till it went away ...... xx

Must go water the withering Brugmansia et al ......

Have a nice evening evenyone. xx

    Hi imp ....

Hate to tell you it's incredibly fantastic ..... not over 30 in the day and down to about 18 at night with lovely breezes. I would be freaking out if I was back in the UK at the moment with your atrocious weather.

All the best to your nephew and enjoy all the time you have there .... and I'll wish you good wishes as we nearer Christmas when you go there. :thumb:

Hi LoL when Terrapins were in fashion at the height of the ninja turtle phase lots were bought for kids but as they grew and they found out they could bite they were dumped, some were put in an ornamental lake in a place called Walton gardens (nut will know where it is) the lake had a lovely collection of koi carp but these oversized meat pies saw them all off they set up quite a colony and survived a few years people even went there to feed them, thankfully they were dispatched and a balance was restored, not so cute as they seem.

Like the terrapin Lol, only one?
Walnut, fortunately our climate isn't warm enough for them to breed here as we haven't reached the Mississippi summer temperatures yet, at the moment we haven't had our normal summer temperatures!! we need some Algarve sunshine.:)

Strongy there used to be about 30-40 of these retched things they devastated the wildlife I know they need a steady 25c to incubate their eggs but it was a few years ago so wether they achieved this I don't know,it seemed an awful lot to be dumped in one go, tried to find some local news on the occurence but this story is similar,

Yes, strongy, just the one, a family pet along with Donald the Duck who he shares the pond with. :)

Having not left the house for a week, I needed some fresh air ... so a walk on the beach seemed in order, especially since our expected rain hasn't arrived. We went to the nearest one, Galé (Sis's favourite) about 20 minutes away where you can see Armação de Pêra in the background. So, come paddle with me and walk in the sand .....
