Just checking here and there and see that this thread has lost over a year's postings!

How very strange and I bet no one knows who did it or why.

Now, whose threads shall I check up on next?

Glad that yours are still there, YDD, you have some really lovely photos and you have put so much loving care into your garden.

It is just a pity that Sis has lost so much out of two of her threads, rather strange, in fact. She is understandably very upset about it all, and when she is upset, so am I.

Thank you so much Cutie and Sis .... love you both xx

Can't see me bothering to do anything anymore as no one seems interested and those who know me well correspond by e-mail anyway so I'm not losing my true friends. xx

Well, a year has passed so I thought I'd bring an old thread back to life.

Today is a holiday in America (Veterans Day) so we celebrate American holidays, English holidays and Portuguese holidays ... just so we don't miss out on anything... that's 24 a year. Today is also St Martin's Day which heralds Verão de São Martinho (the Summer of St Martin) ... sort of like an Indian Summer ... it is also the day you eat roasted chestnuts and taste the first wines of the year. It is also a Thursday and we always eat out on a Thursday.

So, today we went to Praia da Oura (Albufeira) for a Chinese meal of Peking duck pancakes and a nice red wine.

This was the view from our table looking west ..

... and the view looking east ...

... and the beach cats (little babes of about six months) who joined us in our celebrations ...

I like the idea of 24 public holidays, love the cats and the meal sounds great - plus your sunshine - better than the torrential rain we've had here today.

John, you can take as many holidays as you like when you are retired. :yez: We will be having our rains descend on us soon as we enter our rain reason which we desperately need to get us through our dry summer months (four this year without rain). We've had a couple of good torrential rains in the last month.

Strongy .. you only just got back .. get a grip on the great British weather ... :hehe: I wanted to put the poppets in my handbag .. and both would have fitted ... 1) they were small and 2) I have a large handbag ...

Yes, Pete, the agaves are in great form (as opposed to the palms) but luckily the palms under which we ate have not been affected by the RPV. I saw so much devastation of palms going there today .. it's so, so sad. People on the beach .. yes, there were people jogging back and forth and in the first photo (cleverly hidden behind an agave) were people lying in the sand sunning and .. horrors .. people in the sea ... the air temp was only 20c! s00k However, we have turned Portuguese and were wearing jeans and sweaters and looking at the tourists in shorts and tank tops made us shiver ... :hehe:

Vicky, come to think of it I didn't see any dying or dead palms in Cyprus! may be the islands have escaped RPV.

Just the sort of pictures I needed to see Victoria - as I trudged through the fog today to look at my thermometer to see how much frost we had last night. :D
