Glad I don't have any badgers in my garden! I would not be feeding them eating poor little hogs lol. :)

That's fine but not in my garden, have they finished shooting those TB carriers now! Don't think they roam in Liverpool anyway, although we do have one cheeky grey squirrel that enjoys winding up the local cats. I think it plays chase me, chase me!

Problem is where Im from driving around there are badger bodies regularly at the side of the road.Roadkill.
But you never see hedgehogs around now and all the rabbits are gone too.
Nature needs a balance for everything to thrive but there are so many badgers about now the hedghogs have gone and the birds of prey have eaten all the rabbits too.

We have a hedgehog. He visits every night and has water left in a special dish..

Here I hope is a wee clip from last year
      [IMG]

We know when he has been in cos he disturbs the gravel under the side gate where he comes in and out.
      Here he is leaving.

Its no joke lying on the grass all night waiting to film him !

I know what you mean it is quite hard to get them photographed. Even tonight I saw the fat one having a good feed on meal worms, peanuts, sunflower hearts and spikes hedgehog food, plus a nice drink of water but my camera could not pick it up because it was too dark.
I have put a couple of photo's from a few weeks ago just so you can see my little visitors.
I just love watching them fortunately the first visit is early just after it goes dark. DSCF0230 (2).JPG DSCF0227 (2).JPG

Just curious but can foxes kill and eat hedgehogs I ask because I haven't seen one in years.

In my area I see more foxes than cats and dogs there's that many of them sadly no hogs at night.

Just seen our resident hog for the first time tonight-we moved in a couple of months ago. The old owners said it lived in the garden and Id put some dog food out the other night which got eaten. Tonight I found it just outside our garden wall-hope it will be ok and be able to get back in the garden, would hate for it to get squished.

I support a local hedgehog sanctuary by selling some plants but mainly Snowdrop bulbs on the likes of EBay. Just to let people know, if you see a Hedgehog during the day the likelihood is that it is trouble and may need help. The sanctuary feed cat food, both dry and tinned plus water and that suits them fine. Please not milk and bread which is what I used to put out for the ones we had around before I knew better. Unfortunately I don't have Hedgies here as we have Badgers who are 1 of only a few natural predators that Hedgehogs have.

And (for next year) if you see their youngsters during the day it's even more likely their mother has had some problem and her brood are in need of help, I rescued these 3 cute bundles of spines who were out looking for their mum in the afternoon and who failed to return.

One of the three hogs coming to the garden, the smallest came early last night (9.30) so I could just about get a pic before getting too dark.
