[IMG] OK then here we go "H"..

 My Botanical & common names are the same.... I come back every Spring...

I have pointed, heart-shaped leaves that are matt green in the centre and yellow, pinkish and red round the edges the red tones improve when I am in full sunlight. I also have little green flowers, clustered in a dense spike, with about 4 white petal-like bract below. [IMG]

Could it be Houttuynia, which has beautiful leaves?

A lovely plant but I'm not sure it would like it with me here in the heat? [IMG]

Unfortunately, I have to pop over to Spain again early tomorrow (as one does :D ) so can you do "I" for me? I think it's you (or Waco) who has a wonderful "I" plant that I would go for ... I'll PM you. [IMG]

Okay, Marley, since you know what I'd have chosen I've had to change tack after your PM. So, I'll be awkward ...

I am "I", a single species deciduous tree from Asia (ooh, can I be a tree? well, I am [IMG] )

I am fast growing with large, heart-shaped, red- stalked, dark green leaves and have fragrant greenish flowers in the Spring and Summer.

I am frost hardy particularly after a hot summer.

If I am female, I produce large clusters of red berries in the Autumn that the birds will NOT eat.

    What am I?

It isn't an easy one. [IMG]

My flowers are in panicles / clusters.

I make a good shade tree and like moist conditions.

Why did I have this strange feeling that you would come in and get it? My next clue would have been the Wonder Tree as Ligiri would have just given it away!

Well done, pete ... I'm not surprised! [IMG]

Sounds like a nice tree to have, perhaps for you (the moister conditions) than for me. I know it from my Aussie book ... liking trees myself and always on the lookout, I always go for the not so common ones.

Don't be difficult like me on your choice of plant ... [IMG]

Do I have to come up with one now?
If so, you'll get this easy, it has to begin with a J right.

I'm going for a tree, has large pinate leaves, from N America, grows fast and very large.
Quite common in the UK, very nice timber.

Probably a silly guess but are you a Juniperus virginiana, the Red Cedar?
