Thanks admin, I wouldn't have wanted to have been "drummed out of the Brownies"!
This doing stuff for charity is taking it's toll. I didn't have time/forgot about some seedlings which were in the heated propagator with lids on. Hmm well it has been beautiful HOT weather over the past 2 days and my seedlings have been steamed:yikes:. That's the Onions I was growing to compete with the trying to grow big Onions with the rest of you lot in the bin along with some Sweetcorn:wallbanging:
bet @shiney your garden has to take a back seat when you do your amazing open weekend preparations.
i'm nearly at £2000 now:dancy: and really don't have much left to sell. Going to stop selling things this weekend and then start to concerntrate on my bits and pieces.

Yup that's another pink arrangement flown past your window @shiney :)altho I remember speaking to a person who opens their garden twice a year through the yellow Open Garden Scheme and she said the only reason her garden ever looked tidy was BECAUSE she opened her garden to the public so it had to be! Not that I think you and your good wife would fall into that catagory:)

Having spent time selling my surplus plants on eBay, I can completely understand!

I have sold Snowdrops on Ebay @NCFCcrazy but really didn't fancy selling my herbaceous plants that way. Most of my plants are the big bu..er type and would cost a fortune to post, also I really couldn't be doing with any idiots saying their plant didn't look like the picture when the plant happened to be in full bloom and 6ft tall in the photo in August and it's March now!I don't like Ebay much at all these days. I sold a jumper on there about 9 months ago, it was an expensive jumper but a bit too small for me unfortunately. I stated on the advert the size and be sure to look on the website of the maker (American) as their sizing is different. Well person buys it and then informs me that it's too smal and it has shrunk....it hadn't, they'd made the mistake and wanted ME to pay for it's return. Took ages to sort out and eventually I got my money but life is too short and that is the end of me selling on Ebay!

Exactly my experience, by the time ebay and paypal have taken their fees, then my time and effort to package them and then costs to post them, it just wasnt worth it. My final straw was when someone complained about the packaging, I always took care when packaging and the plant arriving in perfect condition, so I was a bit miffed about that.

I am building a bit of surplus now though so going to have to start selling my surplus outside.

I am now over £2000 in pocket(not for long, off to see the hedgehog sanctuary on Sunday!)from selling my plants through Gumtree. Ok I am selling really big plants at very very good prices and many of my plants are not your bog standard stuff but I still have had an amazing response. People have been driving over 2 hours to come here and most, not all have been really nice. I'd certainly try Gumtree @NCFCcrazy if you haven't already plus it's FREE!!!
There is a down side tho. Had ghastly people here today for damn nearly 2 hours. Knew nothing and had 2 "little darlings" (children) with them. The children trampled all over the flower beds, scared my poor cats rigid and parents only spent £10, my god I earnt every penny not blowing my top!

Could it have something to do with the site name "Gumtree" as opposed to "Ebay" for example... Well done, anyway, I am really pleased for you. :)

I did have a brief venture into Gumtree selling. Had a load of Sempervivums, good size, stuck them on for £2 each. Had a call very soon from a lady who wanted them all. Great I thought. Problem was, she drove the best part of 40 miles thinking it was £2 the lot (or so she said) not each (ad was clear), and had a bit of a strop that I wasted her time. Well she agreed to pay £18 for the lot, which was very good for what she was getting. Then had a strop that I didnt have change!! Lost my patience at that point and said it's £20 or nothing. She then suddenly had the right change .

Maybe bad luck will try again.
