I've grown them from seed, you get faster results if you keep them evergreen.

      Game on then!

I saw a picture (might have been on here, might have been you guys?) of someone who planted his outside for the Summer, looked like someone had given him a bulb each Christmas, or somesuch, over the years and the amassed collection, in flower in the garden in the Summer, looked pretty impressive.

This year someone gave me a really fabby double red. I don't suppose that's going to be much cop for seed ... but perhaps a sacrificial lamb for a twin-scaling attempt ??

Must admit I last grew from seed back in the early 80s, at that time someone gave me a seed head, and not really knowing what I was doing I just sowed a few of the seeds.
Cant remember how long they took to flower, but do remember the flowers were worth the effort.
Another tip that was floating around at the time was to cut the tips off the leaves say a couple of inches.
This makes the plant grow another set of leaves, in effect dividing the bulb.
It then goes on to make two flower stems the following year.

Its not something I have tried, so cant say yea or nay, but it might be worth a try for anyone who is interested.
The main thing though, is to not be in too much of a hurry to dry the bulbs off, if they keep growing and looking good, I let them carry on.

I always let mine die back and rest for a few months during winter. In saying that, I 'lost' two of them and only just found them so have got them going. I only have one blooming at the moment, with four incredible blooms, it's my favourite of the lot ...

My Belladonas are planted in the rockery and have already come and gone this year but have bloomed for 6-7 years at least.
