More lovely pics Rosa, I have never been up north but it looks like a lot of things are going on, When I was a lad every time I got a puncture I used a bowl to put the inner tube in must be a new idea to place it into the canal :hehe:

Thanks for the trip Rosa, you seemed to have a great time. We have been looking up trips to Amsterdam via Eurostar next February but they were so expensive we opted for Paris instead which surprisingly was cheaper.
I won't say you have saved us a trip but instead given us an idea of what we would have missed.:)

thanks nathan pleased you enjoyed my other pics.
and thanks strongy our trip wasnt expensive from north shields dfds the 3 days and staying overnight in the hotel in amsterdam, breakfasts included was £261 and cabin we reserved a sea view on board so its worth considering going from up north. next year when weather is nice i fancy a cruise to the fyords they reckon its lovely so going when the weather is lovely i will get nice pics.

That was certainly good value as the ones we looked at for three nights on Eurostar were 'from' £400 each! and that was a budget hotel. Maybe we will get to Amsterdam one day.:)

strongy that is expensive the £261 was for both of us not each so it was great value, we did ours online the dfds have some good deals they do a 2 night cruise for around £79 each but you only have around 5 hours in amsterdam staying overnight in amsterdam is best at the moment they are doing a lot of work in amsterdam working on a underground tunnel so theres lots if barriers and scaffolding all over the place it was still nice only wish we could of gone closer to xmas to see all their decorations up.

Hi Rosa :) I would think Christmas time would be a lovely time to visit these places - I think it will be next year now when we get to Paris as we have paid up to go away for Christmas for four days.
My friend went to the fiords a couple of months ago and she showed me the photos on her tv :) and it looked stunning! I say do as much as you can while you are fit enough to enjoy it.

    Hi Rosa :)
We are going to a Devere Hotel in Wokefield Park, Reading, Berkshire - if you google it you can see the fabulous Mansion House as the picture scrolls across the top.

Rosa, it looks like you had a nice trip. Excellent. I see you're think about going up to Norway. That's something I've always fancied, but I want to go in winter time to increase the chances of seeing the northern lights. I reckon it will be chilly though.

Strongy, I would recommend the mini-cruise. The wife and I went on one to Rotterdam. Rotterdam itself is not great (everything else was sold out) but the crossings really are part of the break. We sailed from Hull with P&O, the ship had several decent bars, a couple of restaurants, a mini casino and a couple of shops. The cabin wasn't much, it was comfortable and functional but tiny, but that's no problem because we only used it as somewhere to sleep, wash and get changed.
