An Algarve Garden -2023/24

Thank you Michael. Yes it is. I have had some for years, always kept outdoors.

 

Well, we never saw the sun at all yesterday here in Paradise, but I sat outside admiring the greenery and noting how well the Myrtus 'Tarentina' has come back since its massacre last October. That is the Iochroma to the top left, Jacaranda top right and Hibbertia scandens climbing up The Baffa ...

 

Just discovered the Hibiscus Pagoda Red has opened ... It is really bright red but cannot capture it in the sun ...

 

Beautiful flowers, @Victoria How are you keeping with the extreme heat, have you reached 40C yet?

 

Thank you Balc. No got to 37c. I never remember us getting to 40c, 39c yes last year. At this age it is more than tiring. Got a couple more photos of the Pagoda Red earlier in the shade so I will post tomorrow.

 

Hibiscus Pagoda Red in evening shade ...

It hangs from the thin stem on top.

 

Before it got too warm I transplanted a Brugmansia (colour unknown as I did it from seed and waiting for it to develop the Y), moved a Tibouchina by mistake which I will move back early evening when the house blesses me with shade out front, and potted on six Adenium Obessum seedlings.


The ashtray is water for Munchkin. Although there is a s/s water dish under the table, she likes to get up onto the table. Both are freshend morning and evening. Van only drinks from the s/s one. There are two others in the garden and two in the house.

Left to right ... Red, Orange (Petit Sunrise), Double Red, Candy Floss Pink, Pagoda Red and Yellow with Red Throat) maybe some day they will all open at the same time ...


The Front of Houses faces East so with the sun behind it looks luminous at times ...



Plumbago wanders through the Iochroma ...

Beautiful blooms Victoria,..your Hibiscus are winners,..mine has not flower this year,..your garden is awesome.

You've got a nice collection of Hibiscus ...

Aren't cats funny, Bella will only drink fresh water in the bathroom. I always put a dish there for her. If I put it anywhere else she won't drink it. However she will drink from muddy puddles etc in the garden.
