Ahh looking gorgeous, it's been raining here none stop so lovely to see the sun if only through your postings.
I've just heard Anne Swithinbank in You & Yours (Radio 4) saying winter experimenting has shown that a surprising amount of indoor plants are surviving our winters - including bougainvillea - which she recommends having a go at. I think they are more likely to be drowned than frosted if this winter is anything to go by :D

Boa tarde, Blackthorn. Pleased my flowers cheer you.

In saying that we just had a mini hailstorm!

Our plants drown in the winter. We need rain from November-March in order to survive the summers. Our rains are torrential, roads becoming rivers and flatlands lakes.

So if our Bouganvilleas and others can survive months of rain, yours should be able to. The difference is, we are wet but not cold. Wednesday we went to 20 degrees but today we are only 16.

I agree with you Blackthorn - however, I just came across a canna root which I forgot to dig up, its been frosted, drowned and frozen, but root was fine when I lifted it.

I went to local garden Centre today and they are selling bougonvillia, orange trees and figs in new cardboard type rooted shoots, I think they will probably be OK too.

LoL - I used to have an abutilon at our holiday cottage, everyone remarked about it, but it was left outside one winter and that was the end of it. Then I went to a garden center (another one) last week and there was the fantastic one half price, it was red like yours, but had an orange yellow skirt to the flowers which were huge. I was tempted for my big hole in the lean-too, but have so many candidates that I left it - having seen yours, I may make the effort to go back and buy.

Yes, it's not very like my garden, in so many ways, sigh............ :(
Still, I'm not all that keen on the heat, so I'm better off in rainy old Scotland! :D

Thank you, pete, roders and dendro. Thought it might cheer those of you with rainy days! I like sharing my sunshine! [IMG]

Dendro, did you mean not very "unlike" your garden or have I got that backwards, teacher?

It wasn't hot, didn't reach 20 and there was a lovely breeze.

Funny thing was I went out to do a specific thing, trim he Euryops (Paris Daisy), spent three hours out there and guess what I didn't do? :D :D :D

You got it backwards! It's nothing like my garden at the moment - the weather is so grey all the colours of the plants seem dull too - completley different from yours!

I think I might possibly guess, LoL - that's exactly the sort of thing I'd do! :D

It's nice and sunny here too LofL but of course we don't have the warm temps to match. Everything is looking nice and colourful and I do love poppies, this one is like a little sun!
