I thought yours was weeping shrub rather than a weeping tree W as Lol thought. Viminalis grows to 20 ft or more. Rigidus used to be classed as Linearis then Subalatus and now sometimes Rigidus but it isn't rigid it weeps and usually stops around 6ft. :D

Thanks DAG, rosa and Cutie. It's very pleasant this time of the year ... a nice time to be out doing things in the garden. [IMG]

We have actually been forecast for rain, which we want, but it somehow bypassed us. :(

I went for my first of the month wander around the garden and decided I'd start somewhere I don't normally photograph as I'm not very good at keeping it tidy, the lane side ...

Under the almond tree there are giant Geraniums and Red Hot Pokers which are just starting to bloom ...

In one of the the three built-in wall planters there is a two-toned Marguerite flanked by yellow Lotus ...

On entering the gates you are greeted by my straggly Callistemon Vininals with a border of Salvia behind ...

... and the rockery behind under the larger Jacaranda is heaving with Lampranthus, pink Evening Primrose (a weed), Osteopernums, Drosanthemum floribundum (the Dew Flower which glistens in sunlight) and various succulents ...

To the left under the almond tree the Lampranthus, Alyssum and pink Evening Primrose are blooming ...

Across the front of the house with a Shrimp plant blooming in from of Osteos backed by an Iochroma and then Euryops ...

    ... to be continued ...

    ... 2 April 2008 continued ...

Longer view across the front of the house ...

A shady-ish corner with the lime tree with Salvia underneath, Solanum rantonnetii to the right shading Stars of Bethlehem and Dianthus ...

The Roses and Lantana recovering from their earlier massacre, backed by the Solanum rantonnetii ...

A shady area under the smaller Jacaranda where the Brugmansia, Cestrum (and Magic Sam) keep out of the midday sun ...

The pots of Verbena on the dining patio wall ...

    The dining patio ...

Mandevillea on the dining patio ...

Excellent - do you have anything in flower which is scenting at the moment? I love flowers that have the added bonus of a sweet perfume. I bet that patio is sublime after a hot day as the sun is setting. Do you get any visiting lizards??

25 degrees WOW! slap on the sunscreen!

    Lovely LOL.

    Hello again, Cookie.

Scented ... mmmm, pink Jasmine which is just finishing and one double Petunia which won't last long in this heat, the Freesias finished a couple of weeks ago. My red Honeysuckle (American Beauty) is in bud but it's my first year with it and there seems to be conflicting comments as to whether it's scented or not. My yellow/pink Honeysuckle is slightly behind but is scented. My three roses (Oranges & Lemons, Rhapsody in Blue and Sunseeker) are all in bud and scented, all down by that patio. The Brugmansia will be flowering for the summer and is scented.

We already have the geckos here ... daily in the house as we have two cats who think they are moving toys. I rescue them when possible (the geckos, that is) and release them into the orchards ... but they are dumb as sometimes the same one comes back time and time again ... you can tell them apart at times. [IMG] There are lizards here but not in my garden although I do get the occasional snake ... had a baby in the kitchen last year. :D

When you live in such a climate, you don't sit in the sun if you have any sense ... and from time to time I do (have sense that is)! [IMG]

Pleased you have enjoyed the photos.

Lol, your Viminalis? was it bought as a shrub or did it have a leader and was cut off? I was just looking at it again as you said it was straggly (which it is :D ) as it is normally grown as a tree. (ok I admit, mine 's a straggly tree :D )
