... and I just love trailing behind you A drinking in your magical jungle. :love30:

Love the arty spade/fork handle and poppy photo. Sadly my Oranges & Lemons rose died after many years for unknown reasons, as had my Blue Moon, but Sunseeker still lights up my life. What is the stunning heavily laden rose by the wildlife pond?

Your Callistemon looks great ... is it the C viminalis like I have? Mine is about 3 meters tall now and it's first flush had over 100 blooms on it! It lives next to it's cousin Melaleuca which is about 4 meters tall and about to bloom with white brushes. Shame they don't bloom the same time.

Wish I could grow Clematis here, have tried from seed and rootings but no success. Guess it is just too hot and dry. Although winter is pleasant we don't get frost.

Thank you for allowing us to enter your magical world. xx

It's Rose "Madam Alfred Carriere, Victoria, which seems to like the sandy, but moist, soil by the West end of the Wildlife pond. Along with it in a row are Rose "Bright Future", "White Cloud", "Rambling Rector, Vielchenblau, Gloire de Dijon, and two white flowering climbing roses whose names are lost in the mists of time!!:doh::snorky:

If I remember correctly, Victoria, it's Callistemon "Firebrand". It sits next to the Jasmine Hedge by the Wildlife pond and I'm pretty sure that it's roots have traveled into the Bog Garden on the other side of the Hedge. It was a really nice surprise to see it starting to bud and then flower:snorky:

The secret seems to be in keeping the roots fairly deep, moist, cool, and I cover the root area with flat stones. I lost a lot of Clematis on the path of finding how to understand what they need and like.:dunno::wallbanging::snorky:

:frown: Well there we go, I am on clay and rock base ... moisture I would have to have irrigation permanently and 'cool' we only get in January/February/maybe March.
