    Actually I had made my mind up to go through with it! That's the galling thing. The landowner has been away for the last month so there was no possibility of negotiation but as the purchase must have started behind closed doors before I was aware of it, I'm taking solace in that.... and a few whiskeys!

    There is a very slim chance of running the nursery but not owning it. That and the fact there will be an expanding building company with all the trimmings of heavy plant, thrashing about don't really appeal. It will ruin the site and destroy what is essentially a very quiet 'plot'; they're there for the convenience of storing their equipment and materials and have little interest in the rest. Call me a control freak but if I was doing it, it would have to be on my terms not theirs.

    They could only buy subject to the Lease, so the Leasehold estate would still there for grabs, unless the owner of that surrendered it :)

    First thought was for that! The landowner refuses to surrender it unless for a small (by which I mean massive) fortune.
