I agree with FC. Please stay put. You say you have enjoyed your time here and learned a lot. Why chuck it all up on account of a little misunderstanding. Please stay.

Children. Enough. Settle down and listen.

OK, We are now all grown up. Past memories are those days when we would shout and cry. He's pinched my sweets. Hells Bells many of us are in our senior years. We have come through thick and thin, perhaps had a bloody nose, even the strap from dad. Our lives have been a traing ground. Now suddenly certain ones want to throw the towel in. WHY? Well he said, or she said.......and I took it I was being got at.

It can be difficult at times to chat etc without perhaps rocking the boat. Let's face it. We do well when chatting face to face. Why not now. OK at times a comment might raise ones hackles. Take it aside and sort it privately. There's nowt so strange as folk. I bet you can'r even remember what started this off. Shake hands and move forward. Lets hear no more of this leaving the forum. Grow up.

@Mike Allen I think that perhaps there is an accumulation of hard feelings that thst may have led up to spats however calling everyone children was a tad unhelpful perhaps?

I think everyone needs a chill pill, including yourself!

See you all on the sunny side :)

@silu , do not even think of leaving GC . I really do enjoy your inputs , experience and humour . As in life , forums do go through phases but I am sure things won't be as tetchy when we can plant some seeds !:snorky:
@Mike Allen , the calm down children quote was not really needed , mate.

I feel very sorry for Andy, with his fight and determination he has raised British tennis standing :dbgrtmb:

I wonder why this thread has been sidelined. It no longer appears under “off topic discussion “. I have had to do a search to find it. @Fat Controller s post on another thread and then locked preventing any comment was a little worrying and overly defensive, IMO. What’s wrong with a bit of discussion?

I was disappointed at some of the above posts in this thread but not upset, that’s forum life. I couldn’t comment on the above mentioned thread so am commenting here and it may get me banned. What troubles me is that over several weeks and threads, the mods denied that anyone had been banned but then it appears that some people have, if I read the posts correctly and somewhat in between the lines.

I’m a keen gardener and will not participate in off topic discussions in future. Roll on spring. Bye bye for now and I do wish Andy Murray well for the future whatever he decides to do.

@Redwing - not sure which post you are referring to on which thread? Is it the post regarding recent events on the forum? If so, it doesn't relate to this in any way, and (within reason) there is nothing wrong with a bit of discussion.

Others were upset by some of the things in this thread, but as you say that is forum life - however, when that upset or wee tit-for-tat type situation starts to run and run, I have a responsibility to step in - comes with the territory for me I'm afraid. Believe me, I would much rather not spend the bulk of my time refereeing discussions between fully grown adults, but as I say, sometimes it comes with the territory. Also, there is no denial that people have been banned - we cannot disclose what or why, as that is confidential as a matter of law, but they have been banned. You however, have no reason to think we would ban you (unless of course you have done something I don't know about yet ), as you are merely asking a question. I know I am a bit grumpy sometimes, but we are not that harsh, I promise.

No reason why you can't participate in off topic discussions, and for clarity I was not singling anyone out in my post above - I was merely trying to get the thread back on track.

Looks like Andy might be having a change of heart considering surgery again, only he know if its worth it. If he did have the surgery to play I cant see him getting to the very top again, as long as he enjoys playing again though why not. Footballers when they do the knee ligaments are never really quite the same especially if they do the same knee twice

I am sure they used to say tennis player are over the hill once they get into their 30's , last generation have proved that wrong with improvements in fitness etc. Federer will be 38 this summer and he is still at the top which is extraordinary , best sportsman I've ever seen :wow:

Federer has been genetically lucky though. Nadal will be giving it up soon, I think, due to his joint problems.
