I cant really see the sense in that, I dont think a transient population should affect the vote in a particular area.
Students should have to vote as if from their home town, if that means a postal vote, so be it.

Easy to sort that out, simply remove the right to vote for anybody who's lived at their address for less than 5 years.

We get incomers to our village taking part in our elections only 5 minutes after they've moved here, when most of the population have lived here all their lives (as did their parents).

        Local votes for local people!

          I agree :)
          I agree :)

But I'm with @pete on this one -
... well, apart from the last part about the "postal vote" ... students would be far more likely to vote either online or via an app ;)

... and, for me, that is the point. A student year does not last 52 weeks of the year - just 36 weeks of the year. Each year students arrive in a University town in large numbers who, in the main, have only just reached voting age. If they have arrived from another area/County they have no experience of the issues affecting that constituency, nor do they have any great interest in local area issues because: 1) they probably won't be staying there beyond University; 2) local issues are not high on their priority list ;) and thirdly, their focus is predominantly student life/university/deadline issues: a very narrow focus.

Look, if they cant mobilise themselves to register to vote in their home town, and then get off their a r ses and stick an envelope in a pillar box should we even let them vote in the first place.

            Bloody phone apps.

The internet is a flaky as hell, and I'm sure it would be hacked in no time if online voting was allowed.
Voting is traditional, and the action of making your vote should be maintained, no just done on a whim.
Err, shall I press button A or B,..... no sod it, lets go for C.

Part of a new fiscal policy for the Woo Party:-
A reduction in Council Tax for householders who produce their own food from their gardens (amount of production and amount of reduction to be decided).
Allotment holders that can provide fresh produce for local schools and hospitals have their allotment rent reduced to zero and also get a further reduction in Council Tax.
