It still looks like Valerian (Centranthus) , flowers will be about the end of May/June but could be earlier if the weather stays as good as it's been here today.

Been watching this thread to see how plant grows.
The shape and colour of the leaves don't look right to me for Centranthus ruber...the leaves of which have a rather blue colouring.

We will need to wait and see!

I think it's important to get the whole root out, there was some in my wall when I moved to this house 35 years ago. It's still there! Short of dismantling the wall, the only thing we've been able to do is stop it spreading any further. I never allow a seedling to take hold in a wall or path, not difficult to remove from soil though unless you let it get too big

Hello Westwales again. I will get my husband to dig it out and repoint it, luckily it is only a little seedling so it should not be too bad. All of our gardens have had a little neglect due to my father dying last year hence the seed was allowed to grow, It would not have done in usual years. We are all just getting on top off each of the gardens now.
That red valerian is so nice when in flower but those seeds do get everywhere. I am amazed at how far and wide they can go.
Thank you for your help and advice I do appreciate it.
