Not always sometimes they lead you back to their nest and eat you and also sometimes send you on a wild goose chase :yahoo::love30::phew:

I've poured boiling water from the kettle on ants nests in the past, that sorts them out, but obviously you can't do that if they are underneath your precious plants. So I'd use Ant Killer powder, cheapest place is Poundland.

£1 at Wikos for 450g (was two pounds, but now reduced to half price instore and online) http://www.wilko.com/insecticides pest-control/wilko-ant crawling-insect-killer-powder-450g/invt/030 0414 less 4.2% Topcashback if ordering online to collect instore http://www.topcashback.co.uk/wilkinson_plus/

Poundland ant killer is only 300g http://www.poundland.co.uk/home-and-garden/gardening/pests-weeds-fertilisers/ant-killer-powder-300gz making it 50% more expensive than Wilkos.

I was told that it is the ants that bring the aphids to the plants to milk them, and to be sure whilst spraying for aphids to throw plenty of and powder around the area where you can see them busy. Nippon is also very good as apparently they take it back to their nests and it kills the breeders.
