    well Im going to sow the seed indoors about Feb/March next year and put out the end of May, see what happens.Thanks for all your replies, Id heard of Quince but never seen one before, but it made a really attractive hedge. 02

    Just a thought could it of been an Osage Orange? (Maclura pomifera) as there sometimes grown as hedging plants...
